Hunting with Bow: Umbria, the commissioner Cecchini "Hunting with the bow is already allowed in most of Italy, I would not like that in Umbria the only form of hunting allowed is that of the councilor".
“The proposal for a regional regulation which introduces the possibility of using the bow in the selection hunting in cervids and bovids, it has all the requisites required by national and regional hunting laws. I would not want another type of sport to open up in Umbria and that some consider hunting for alderman as the only allowed form ”. This was stated by the regional councilor for hunting, Fernanda Cecchini, introducing this morning the work of the wildlife hunting council convened to discuss the regulation for the wild boar hunting and administrative functions in hunting matters. At the opening of the meeting, the commissioner reconstructed the process that led to the proposal to amend the regulation, requested by all hunting associations and unanimously approved by the Council itself. "This morning - he communicated - the act was unanimously approved by the competent regional council commission to which it was submitted to obtain the mandatory and non-binding opinion".
“The proposed regulation - he reiterated - establishes with extreme rigor the methods and terms for extending selection hunting to ungulates to the bow. A practice allowed by the national law 157/92 on hunting, already practiced in almost all regions and that only a specific national rule can prohibit. It also meets the favorable opinion of Ispra, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, which is an authoritative point of reference for environmentalists ”.
“According to Ispra - he specified - the bow hunting 'it maintains unchanged some characteristics that place it in the current panorama as an extremely effective, environmentally friendly, ethical and safe means of hunting, thus constituting a very valid alternative to the traditional use of the firearm'. And, again, it is emphasized that it is a vehicle that is 'free of environmental invasiveness' and that it offers 'total passive safety' ”.
The regional councilor for Hunting he nevertheless declared, in informing of the unanimous opinion of the council commission, to reserve together with the regional council further evaluations. “This regulation - he said - is not among the priority objectives of the regional administration, but it has all the credentials. It may or may not be shared: to those who have contested it, I would like to remind you that criticism is welcome if you act outside the rules, democratic confrontation and common sense, but it is only with the exploitation and distortion of the facts that new seasons of governance of our territories are being built ”.
"It should not be forgotten or underestimated - he added - that Umbria has full recognition at European level for how we have been able to combine the management of hunting policies with the protection of natural habitats and biodiversity". In the meeting of the Regional Hunting Faunal Council, and previously in that of the Advisory Commission for sport fishing, the commissioner Cecchini communicated that he had requested that in the institutional reform bill for the reorganization of functions and delegations following the overcoming of the Provinces it is envisaged that the proxies in the field of hunting and fishing are attributed to the Region, for the purpose of a unitary and homogeneous management throughout the regional territory.
The hunting council has examined in particular some proposals relating to the regulation for hunting wild boar, with the aim of a more effective containment of the species and the reduction of the large sums paid up to now annually for compensation for damage caused by wildlife: about 2 million and a half euros for damage to people and property and 1 million euros for damage to agriculture.
