Il Spina Verde Regional Park, a natural area that extends over the hills north-west of Como and largely borders Switzerland, has decided to take stock of the containment plan of the wild boar. It is an information evening scheduled in a few days, to be precise Friday 1st June 2018 at the multipurpose hall of Colverde, in the locality of Gironico.
Via Roma will give the most correct information possible regarding the problem represented by ungulates, in addition to the solutions adopted and the results achieved and to be achieved. The Como Park has been operating in the area for over two years, specifically since April 2016, to contain the wild in the protected area: the activity was authorized for three years by ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research). The public meeting is a key moment a 25 months away from the start of the plan: the appointment for all interested parties was set at 21.
Last October something more was known about it. In particular, in the first 18 months of authorization the culled specimens had been 180. The population had been quantified in 500-600 head, much higher than the previous year's estimates. For the withdrawals we rely on qualified hunters who dispose of the carcasses after appropriate evisceration.
When they will explain to me what it was for to make the park of the green thorn, if not to ban hunting, fill Como with invasive species such as wild boar, and give a place to friends of friends, and suck regional subsidies.
I do not see great utility.
