#Cosmi Self-taught man, great hunting enthusiast, Rodolfo began his job as a rifle repairman and, in 1890, he began to build the first Cosmi swing-action shotguns. 1907 is accompanied for the first time by an original semiautomatic model, which for years engages him in studies, calculations and tests, up to 1920 to the model congenial to him. Thus began the history of the Cosmi semiautomatic, a completely handcrafted masterpiece, which embodies the best features of an overhead shotgun, of which it retains the opening, and the streamlined and functional line of the semiautomatic. He shares his passion for weapons with his two sons Marcello and Americo to whom he handed down the art before his death in 1936. In 1936 Americo and Marcello decide to transfer the Cosmi company to Ancona, to the historic site it still occupies. The contribution of Marcello (who passed away in 1963) is enormous, transforming the company from a small artisan workshop into a real company and for whose merits he will be named Cavaliere, and that of Americo (who died in 2015) to whom all the evolution is owed of rifle mechanics for the next 50 years. Under the guidance of the two brothers, the company acquires international fame and the Cosmi rifle becomes a must in the collections of heads of state, men of culture and famous sportsmen, from one end of the planet to the other. In its history, through 2 centuries and 3 generations, the Cosmi company has successfully managed to blend tradition and innovation in a single product, by maintaining the classic and elegant line, the result of the ingenuity of its founder, and the use of innovative machining techniques and materials such as aerospace engineering steels and titanium, continuing to fully deserve the reputation of the best semiautomatic in the world.
The prerogative of the tilting barrel has remained as an emblematic element of this rifle designed by Rodolfo Cosmi (1873 - 1936) originally from Macerata Feltria (PS): the idea started in 1905, coincidentally the year it held in The Auto 5 of the FN was baptized, but only in 1925 the first example was brought to the attention of enthusiasts and is kept in the company, fully functional. The reason for the swinging barrel dates back to a need of the time when several cartridges ejected the primer from the seat, creating many problems to get it out of the way through the ejection window only to restore the functionality of the weapon. In this way everything was easier without forgetting how the safety factor was fully fulfilled with the simple actuation of the key, identical in form and function to that of a usual shotgun.
