As disclosed by the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, LIPU extension has returned to the attack on sui hunting calendars of the Italian regions. In a statement issued in conjunction with the closing of the hunting season, the environmental association returns to attack the regions accusing them of a "pro-hunting" culture. The proposal that the LIPU makes is to transfer the competences on the matter to the Minister of the Environment on a national level and to Environment Departments in the regions.
It is clear that the current clash with the positions expressed on several occasions by the Minister of Agriculture Centinaio, of diametrically opposite sign, have generated, as indeed happens on most of the topics on the agenda of the Yellow-green government, yet another short circuit between Lega and Cinque Stelle. Hunting, which until recently was a matter unrelated to the "government pact", risks becoming a battleground and muscular tests still with an uncertain outcome. The battle that the hunting world will have to carry out with courage and great autonomy, will have to focus on the decentralization of competences and on strengthening the role of the regions in governing the matter. In fact, hunting has always been part of the rural and agricultural system for objective reasons. There, it must stay! What is certain is that the next few months will be characterized by the sharpening of a new season against the hunting calendars and regions.
The machine of environmentalist and animal rights propaganda has been in motion for some time and the conditioning towards public opinion will be heavy and unleashed on multiple fronts. We must be able to develop not only strong resistance in the Administrative Courts and in institutional settings, but also to come out into the open towards politics on issues that are important to us today. Hunting (now it seems certain) will represent a terrain of confrontation and political confrontation. We, we must be there, leading the field clear values and positions on which to measure the policy or what remains of it.
