The El Range series from Swarovski Optik is a real novelty in the hunting optics sector. The extraordinary ease of use, connected to many technological innovations, allows you to know the distance to the target for a safe shot. Furthermore, the clear light transmission allows to obtain always sharp and bright images, even in prohibitive atmospheric conditions.
Having already described the peculiarities of the Swarovski Optik, in this article we are going, right away, to analyze and present the novelty put on the market by the Austrian company, namely the new series of El Range binoculars with rangefinder.
The slogan "constantly improve what is worth", is not just a publicity stunt by Swarovski Optik to attract new customers, but a real guideline to follow since through the latter you can always keep up with the times and changes technologies for a continuous search for perfection. Cutting-edge technologies, innovative spirit and craftsmanship are the cornerstones of Swarovski Optik's success.
El Range binoculars combine maximum functionality, innovation and design, an aspect not to be underestimated. Through the ergonomic central hole it is possible to use only one hand to maneuver the binoculars; moreover, the lightness and the total balance give a comfort of use also and above all for long moments of observation. The El Range series consists of optics designed for high contrast and extremely faithful images.
For the El Range range, Swarovski Optik has made use of high-carat technologies, such as the Swarobright coating with which extremely faithful colors are obtained in the entire spectrum of light, and the Swarotop and Swarodur coatings with which obtain images rich in contrast and bright particulars.
The non-stick effect with the Swarclean external surface treatment was also intended for this series of binoculars, to make it extremely easy to clean the lens and the eyepiece by removing impurities, such as dried mineral residues, water stains from fogging, insecticides or resin. In this way, this system allows less cleaning of the lenses, consequently increasing their duration.
The EL Range series sets new standards for observation, as the latter results in high resolution with 91% light transmission in both tubes and precise measurement of distance and site angle thanks to the unique Swaroaim technology .
Many optics experts see the El Range series as an accessory that redefines hunting equipment: combining the ability of exceptionally sharp optics with an accurate measurement function.
Let's analyze specifically all the features of the El Range series.
First of all, the precise measurement of very distant targets requires a steady hand, but the central hole in the EL binoculars, the low weight and the perfect balance allow you to handle the EL Range easily and effectively and thus obtain the exact indication of the distance from the desired target.
There are essentially four different adjustment positions available, characterized by a different distance of the eye from the lens.
The first consists in the initial position without glasses, for which it is sufficient to completely extract the eyecups by turning them counterclockwise. The second consists of the initial position with glasses, for which both eyecups must be retracted, rotating clockwise until they stop. In addition, there are alternative positions and intermediate degrees for wearers and non-wearers of glasses. There are essentially four different adjustment positions available, characterized by a different distance of the eye from the lens. To obtain a single circular image, the two bodies of the binoculars must be bent until no more annoying shadows appear.
To achieve an ideal image quality, however, it is necessary to compensate for any different vision between the left and right eyes: first of all, you need to take out the diopter compensator on the left; then turn the diopter compensator anticlockwise until it stops; hold down the Mode key for 4 seconds: from here it is possible to set the diopter compensation (the display shows the message 30 seconds); with your left eye you should look through the left eyepiece on the display and slowly rotate the diopter compensator clockwise until the display is in focus. The diopter compensator must then be pushed in again. Finally, steps 1 to 5 must be repeated with the right diopter compensator to adjust the optimum sharpness for the right eye (reticle). One of the facilities offered by the binoculars of the El Range series consists in the possibility of comfortably setting the reticle or distance indication without having a target: just place the binoculars on a table or observe a dark nearby object. With the separate setting of the respective diopter, you get the best possible sharpness, while your eye is not distracted by a targeted target. In fact, by rotating the focusing wheel it will be possible to obtain a clear image of any object placed at a reduced distance up to infinity. In the infinity position, the large edge of the focus wheel faces upwards. The 61 ° wide-angle eyepiece for an extraordinary field of view of 137m (8 × 42) and 110m (10 × 42). The hunter is also and above all interested in the distance measurement range: EL Range measures the distance to the target over the entire measurement range (30-1375m) with an unparalleled measurement accuracy of +/- 1m. The ergonomically optimized measuring head installed on the bridge allows for quick and intuitive use even at dusk, while the small-target reticle enables precise measurement over large distances, with the display brightness being individually adjustable according to your personal needs.
The real novelty and originality of these binoculars is the Swaroaim program. The latter is a system that allows the calculation of the influence of the shooting angle. In fact, a high-precision shot requires a certain ballistic experience, or an instrument with maximum measurement accuracy. EL Range with the Swaroaim system allows an evaluation of the influence of the angle of the site developed by SWAROVSKI OPTIK, with which it is possible to determine the exact shooting distance and therefore a precise aim, even in the most difficult situations. With an angular shot, the force of gravity acts not as long as with a horizontal shot. This results in a lower projectile trajectory with a displacement of the point of impact. It should be borne in mind that due to the particular angle, the three dimensional view of the body of the game varies and that a perfect low shot does not necessarily cause the immediate killing of the game. EL Range is able to display, at your choice, the correct angle or distance of the shot. This allows you to "fix the point" even if it is a question of placing an angle shot over large distances. We are talking about how the distance to the target is usually measured, the correct distance is detected for the angle and the setting of the ballistic turret or the stop point on the ballistic reticles.
The relative deviation of the flight paths between horizontal shot and angled shot is almost identical despite the different calibers. Thanks to a correction factor, calculated from the distance and the angle of the ground, it is therefore possible to obtain the display of the correct shooting distance. Once you have determined the chosen bullet trajectory in the ballistic turret or ballistic reticles, you can easily set the correct firing distance.
In addition, the presence of the display allows you to adjust the optics in a simple way and to have a lot of information on distance and brightness. In fact, the binoculars can display the distance measured in yards or in meters and the latter can be chosen by briefly pressing the measurement button in the P3 menu. The unit chosen here also applies to the correct ballistic firing distance. The binoculars of the El Range series are available in the 10 × 42 and 8 × 42 versions, for a total weight of 900 grams. In conclusion, the intuitive use and technical features make the EL Range series the ideal hunting partner of the future.
