EXA 2014, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL ZOOPROPHYLACTIC INSTITUTE OF LOMBARDY AND EMILIA ROMAGNA AND THE PROVINCE OF BRESCIA - HUNTING AND FISHING OFFICE ORGANIZES A CONFERENCE ON WILDLIFE MONITORING.
EXA 2014 - Among the events organized in advance ad EXA, historic exhibition dedicated to sporting and hunting weapons, which this year it will take place from 5th to 8th April as always at the Brescia Fair, we will also talk about wildlife monitoring, an issue that in our country is becoming increasingly important, not only for professionals.
The conference entitled "Wildlife health check-ups: interdisciplinary approach to human and animal health", organized by EXA in collaboration with the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Lombardy and Emilia Romagna and the Province of Brescia - Hunting and Fishing Office, will take place on Saturday 22 March 2014, from 9.00 to 13.00 in the conference room of the Brescia Fair.
In the last decade throughout Italy there has been a continuous and exponential increase in the populations of wild animals, both in terms of numbers and geographical distribution, reaching levels such as to represent an entity that is no longer negligible and become potential health risk factors for pets and humans. In recent years, community policies, implemented at national and regional level, have activated health plans that fully include the faunal component in recognition of its importance in protecting public and animal health and biodiversity. In fact, from an object of interest often only on the part of professionals, the health monitoring of wildlife is also taking on the characteristics of an organic management of public health in our country.
"There is no dividing line between animal and human medicine, the goal is different, but the experience obtained forms the basis of all medicine" (Rudolf Virchow 1821-1902). This conception that sees animal populations, man and the environment as protagonists, including vectors, always entails new challenges not only for wildlife managers, for the veterinary world, but also for the population in general. This is the theme on which the conference will focus, to examine and discuss the role of wild animals in the epidemiological cycles of the main zoonotic diseases and the situation regarding the health monitoring activities of wildlife in place in different national contexts. The Ministry of Health, the Regional Veterinary Units, all the Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing Offices of the Italian Provinces and Regions, as well as the hunting associations, local health bodies, exhibitors of EXA, the press, hunting associations, and hunters and all interested parties will be able to participate.
Among the collateral events organized during the event, the indoor shooting lines were confirmed (target shooting lines, electronic clay pigeon shooting, range for dynamic sport shooting with soft air weapons, archery range) and craft demonstration area "The work, the tradition", which met with great success in the last edition.
Among the novelties of EXA 2014 a “TOP” space, central to the stands in Hall 1, to present the visitor with products which, due to their perfection and beauty, can be considered true works of art and which are not usually visible to the general public. The weapons and engravings on display, due to their uniqueness of technique, materials and finishes, will be the stars of the area, which will be set up in such a way as to enhance the precision of the workmanship and the attention to detail.
