Open letter from Stefano Arctic, interprovincial president Federcaccia Ascoli-Fermo after what happened in Montesecco di Grottammare and after the controversies that were triggered with the League Abolition Hunt. "Were it not for the prominence enjoyed by the animal rights shootings in the media with the consequent misinformation for readers, it would not even be worth wasting time responding to the heap of fantasies spread by the LAC on what happened in the hamlet of Montesecco of the municipality of Grottammare.
Having cleared the statement from the emotional and alarmist reconstructions that always characterize any communication coming from anti-hunt and animal rights environments, without getting too technical, let's get to the facts in their concreteness. The operations of wildlife control, like the one we are talking about, they are not hunting, so much so that they take place precisely in periods when this is closed, and are not organized by the hunting teams on their own initiative. These are public utility operations expressly provided for by law and regulated with regard to our region, among other regulations, by the "Regional Control Plan of the Wild Boar for the years 2018-2023" approved by the regional council.
The aims of this plan are not, as the LAC seems to believe, to entertain hunters, but to limit the damage caused by wild boar not only to agro-forestry production but also, as the law states "for the protection of the soil, for health reasons, for biological selection, for the protection of the historical and artistic heritage "as well as for public safety and security. The use of abatements takes place only after the ecological methods recalled by the LAC have proved ineffective and everything takes place on the advice of ISPRA, the same Institute whose opinions and indications have the force of law for abolitionist associations if they serve to remove even just a day of hunting calendars, but which strangely become waste paper if based on scientific objectivity authorize withdrawals.
But even the "science" recalled by the LAC is valid only if it says what they want. The "Far West" evoked by the LAC therefore does not exist, because everything takes place in the wake of ben precise rules and regulations and to protect citizens, of the operators and of the fauna itself, the sampling and control plans are implemented by the Region with the management involvement of the territorial hunting areas and under the coordination of the Provincial Police. At least one police officer must always be present for operations. Even the form of sampling is not left to the free choice of the participants and that of the hunt, used in the case reported, is adopted when necessary kill a large number of wild boars present in the intervention site in a short time, to minimize the disturbance caused by operators and the damage caused by wild animals.
The operators - it is not a distinction of form, because we repeat here it is not a question of hunting - they must be in possession of qualifications and qualifications that are reported after having attended courses and passed exams aimed at learning methods and regulations related to control. In short, in Montesecco there was not the first one who passed and the competent authorities were all aware. All the rest is chatter devoid of value and foundation made to art to support ideological positions, legitimate as long as you want, but certainly very questionable ".
