Stefano Arctic, number one of the Federcaccia of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo has decided to reply to an article published by League for the Abolition of the Hunt (LAC) about the early days of hunting. According to the president of the association, the LAC failed to block the hunting calendar 2017-2018 and he would therefore have chosen to make public some falsehoods about hunting, speaking of decimated game and few hunters.
The data of the League have been defined contradictory and non-existent. To speak of a few hunters and many animals killed is nonsense, since weapons of mass destruction should have been used. The article also talks about a few shots, so the LAC shouldn't even bother. Furthermore, the alleged decline in hunters is motivated by the few available to purchase game ready-hunting, an operation that the Federcaccia Ascolana recalled no longer existed for years, as rightly prohibited by regional law.
Another cause of the decline mentioned in the article is the fewer hares, pheasants and gray partridges. In reality, the hares are not decreasing, while the pheasant is present with a diversified density according to the territories. Gray partridge is already forbidden to be collected at the request of hunters. Arctic clarified the real causes of the decline, namely the decrease in the hilly and mountainous areas in which to hunt and the economic burdens that hunters have to bear.
Finally, the hunting association clarified the current situation of wild boars. The massive presence is not due to the continuous introduction of ungulates crossed with those of theEastern Europe, given that every animal held in captivity is registered in the USL registry.
