Montelupone: conference of the federcaccia on 'Fauna Management'
“From scientific data an effective management of migratory fauna”: this is the title of the conference which will take place on Saturday 22 May 2010 starting at 16 pm at the Nicola Degli Angeli Theater in Montelupone.
The meeting is organized by the Macerata 2 “Val di Chienti” Hunting Area (Atc Mc 2) in collaboration with the Federcaccia section of Montelupone and with the patronage of the Marche Region, the Province of Macerata and the Municipality of Montelupone. The program of interventions was dense and numerous authorities were present, including Paolo Petrini, councilor for hunting of the Marche Region, Giuseppe Pezzanesi, provincial councilor for hunting, Nazareno Agostini, provincial councilor for Environmental Education, and Pio Chiaramoni, president of the Atc Mc 2.
To do the honors will be the mayor of Montelupone Giuseppe Ripani and the president of the Federcaccia section of the city Nazzareno Galassi, moderator of the conference: "This year's meeting - explains Galassi - wants to emphasize the need for effective management of the territory, and it will be possible to reach this level only if the consistency of the fauna is known: through precise censuses we will be able to make a careful sampling. Therefore it is very important - continues President Federcaccia - that hunters return their hunting cards at the end of the year, since by reading all the cards you can have the real measure of the samples taken in the area ".
Until now, the return of the card has been optional, with the consequence that only 57% of the approximately 2300 hunters of the Atc Mc 2 regularly carry out this operation. An insufficient number to be able to have a complete picture of the situation, which is why the conference aims to be a way to raise awareness among hunters and invite the competent authorities to make return mandatory, introducing sanctions for those who violate this practice. "Only in this way - concludes Nazzareno Galassi - will we be able to have a reading of the actual collection of fauna in the area, implementing an optimal management".
These are the scheduled interventions: Carlo Romanelli, national manager of the Federcaccia, will talk about the management of migratory fauna; Sauro Giannerini, national coordinator of the “Project Colombaccio”, will deal with the management of this species; Pierfrancesco Micheloni, Ispra technician (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), will illustrate an experience of catching and ringing for scientific purposes in the center of Porto Potenza Picena; Uriano Meconi, manager of the Marche Region, will explain the regional wildlife-hunting planning and the 2010-2011 hunting calendar; Daniele Sparvoli, official of the Province of Macerata, will expose the problems relating to fixed postings in the area; Andrea Brusaferro, zoologist at the University of Camerino, will show the prospects for the return of the partridge in the province of Macerata; finally, Sandro Pacioni, national councilor of the Enci (National Agency of the Italian Dog Club), will talk about the hunting dog and the results of the 2010 European Cup.
At the end of the speeches, a debate will follow with those present which will end with a buffet aperitif. All hunters and those interested in an issue that affects our territory in a concrete way are called to participate in the conference, to which all the holders of fixed hunting stalks released in the province of Macerata (there are about 400) have been invited to participate.
