FIdC Grosseto replies to the accusations of the WWF regarding the hunters of the Grosseto area who would have taken advantage of the bad weather to hunt more easily instead of lending their help to the affected populations.
"We would never have believed that WWF would have the audacity to exploit a tragedy to get some visibility." Thus the provincial president of the Federcaccia di Grosseto Luciano Monaci, rightly indignant as a hunter and as a citizen for the declarations made by the environmental association through the words of Fabio Cianchi, according to which the hunters would have taken advantage of the serious conditions of the Grosseto area severely affected by bad weather to catch wild animals in distress more easily instead of lending their help to affected populations.
“The hunters of Albinia and the surrounding countryside - continued Monaci - in addition to shoveling mud, like many other residents in the affected areas suffered damage, but this did not prevent them from doing their utmost for those who were most in need. It is a shame to speculate on these events. Unfortunately, we are used to reading and hearing about everything against us and against our business, but we would never have believed that to get a bit of visibility we could get to this, which I do not hesitate to define media looting.
We, all hunters, are always at the forefront when it comes to safeguarding our land and precisely for our knowledge of the territory and thanks to the fact that we are used to moving with any situation we are often the first to intervene, also because many of us are present in all voluntary, civil protection and public assistance associations. Except that we, unlike others, do it in silence and without asking anyone for anything ".
"And this time too - concludes Monaci - we would have gladly done the same, remaining as is our custom in the shadows, working and not getting lost in useless chatter, but when it is too much it is too much".
