Dr. Maurice Molinari
Daily Responsible Director "The Republic"
Dear Director,
I am forced to report to you the seriously harmful and absolutely non-truthful contents reported in the article "Story of Judith, the dog mistaken for a wolf: the volunteers save her from the aims of the hunters" signed by her journalist Lucia Landoni, which appeared in the Milan chronicle of the online edition of the newspaper she directs. The statements reported, even if quoted and generically attributed to LAV - "And then we witnessed the patrols of local hunters, who were looking for the animal to prevent it from eating the wildlife, waiting to kill him at the opening of the hunting season ”- do not relieve the journalist and the Management from checking the veracity of the same.
Assume a fraudulent intention with criminal implications, being the killing of a dog and even more than a particularly protected species like the wolf rightly prohibited by law, generically accusing an entire category of people whose behavior and criminal record are among the most controlled in our country, is simply defamation, aggravated by the press. While waiting to evaluate with our lawyers the opportunity to proceed with the defense and protection of the good name of our representatives and hunters in general, I therefore invite you to remove the article in question from the online edition and give space and evidence in an adequate way to our reply.
I believe that in addition to a precise ethical obligation it also constitutes a form of due respect towards readers, who regardless of how they think about hunting and those who practice it deserve to read articles corresponding to the truth and not ideological proclamations passed off as news articles.
