The delicate work of mending and compacting between the various political groups carried out without saving energy in recent weeks directly by the President was not enough Massimo Buconi and by the Federation structure in concert with ANPAM and the other hunting associations of the Control Room and, at European level, with FACE. A Lobby job like our country is not usually used to seeing that it has unfortunately collided with the divisions of politics. That's how in the meeting of the ENVI Commission of the European Parliament held yesterday, the resolution presented by the EPP was rejected, supported by Renew, ECR and on which the votes of ID were also concentrated, to reject the European Commission's proposal approved in REACH Committee concerning the ban on lead in wetlands.
The Resolution received 33 votes in favor, 42 against and 4 abstentions out of the total of the 81 MEPs that make up the Commission. Only for a short time was it possible to bring home a result that would have been epochal, since only rarely was it obtained to refer to the EC a proposal for a Regulation. In the attached voting report you will be able to see for yourself how the MEPs of the Commission voted and understand who among those who declare themselves close to the sports and hunting world it was then also concretely, expressing its dissent not on the use of lead in wetlands, but on a resolution to which, while wanting to give the benefit of good intentions, it is poorly formulated and unnecessarily penalizing not only for hunters, but also for police officers and other state bodies.
It was not enough that the mediation work carried out achieved the result of converging the votes on the proposal signed by the EPP - Renew - ECR, to which ID - also presenter of its own Resolution, similarly rejected -, putting the interests of the sector above the line-ups, joined with great seriousness and a sense of collaboration. Unfortunately, all the MEPs of S&D - the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament - followed the indications of the opposite vote, while Renew despite having signed the Resolution, it split and did not vote compactly.
"It is useless to deny the bitterness for this result - declared President Buconi - also because the stakes were high and the commitment was huge. Unfortunately, the parties' team orders prevailed over common sense and reasonableness. We will certainly not give up and awaiting the final vote to be held in the plenary session of the European Parliament next November, we and all the Associations we have worked with in recent months will continue our work of convincing the individual members of Parliament. I am obliged to thank those who have listened to our voice and understood the non-pretext seriousness of our requests: the EPP and in particular the authoritative and sensitive work of its vice-president Antonio Tajani; ECR and - at least in part - Renew; the precious and determined commitment of Hon. Dreosto, who in his role as Vice-President of the Parliamentary Intergroup Biodiversity, Hunting & Rurality and as speaker for the ID in quota Lega, has spent time and energy to find synergy with the other Groups, giving a clear example of seriousness and closeness to the world hunting. Let's not despair because the last word has not yet been said and in any case the work of these weeks has brought important results that we can spend if we find ourselves having to apply the Regulation in our country.", Concluded the President of Federcaccia (Press Office of the Italian Hunting Federation).
