“The possibility on the part of game reserves or hunting districts to contribute to marketing of game is made concrete today thanks to this piece of a path for the creation of certified wild meat supply chain started for years and which considers the fauna as an opportunity to be seized also from the point of view of the sale of meat on the market ".
This was announced by the Councilor for Agri-food and Forestry Resources of Friuli Venezia Giulia Stefano Zannier, regarding the approval by the Executive of the governing regulation the criteria and procedures for the granting, disbursement and reporting of contributions to game reserve associations for the purchase and installation of refrigeration cells dedicated to the conservation of game killed while hunting in the hunting district to which they belong, to promote the creation of collection centers of the remains to be preserved for subsequent transfer to the meat processing centers.
“It is - he explains Zanier - the last step of a process started with the establishment of qualification courses for 'trained hunters' pursuant to European legislation, courses in which the operators of the Regional Forestry Corps (Cfr) involved in fauna control operations, to then move on to financing for the construction of slaughtering centers for the wildlife: the first to be operational is that of Prosecco, others will follow that are continuing with the works.
Lastly, the current regulation will now allow the construction of intermediate collection centers in refrigerated cells ". As regards the Cfr "it was recently carried out - the commissioner announced - an expression of interest to locate a slaughterhouse, authorized for the management of wildlife, available to receive the animals collected in fauna control, thus allowing them to be sold within a certified supply chain from a health point of view and no longer having to confer them for disposal. This could therefore lead - Zannier specifies - to the elimination of an ethically unacceptable practice, such as the disposal of the animals taken, and at the same time the creation of a first supply chain that can also be used as a reference for those that are hoped to arise from the fauna taken in hunting "(Source: Friuli Venezia Giulia Region).
