The Province of Cuneo suspends compensation for road accidents caused by ungulates due to lack of funds.
In fact, since the middle of last month the Province of Cuneo has not compensated even half of the damage caused by wildlife in the event of road accidents due to the lack of funds to be allocated to this type of reimbursement.
In the provincial territory, in fact, road accidents caused by deer and roe deer crossing the roadway have multiplied dramatically in recent years, becoming more and more significant; only in 2010 it was known of 316 accidents caused mainly by roe deer and wild boar for a total of damages paid by the Province for 502 thousand euros.
The reasons that led the provincial body to suspend the compensation is to be found in the persistence of the economic crisis which has considerably reduced the funds that the State allocates to local authorities, therefore the Region itself has decided not to provide for the allocation to be allocated to the solidarity for those involved in road accidents involving ungulate wildlife and in turn the provincial government has already suspended the investigation of compensation procedures from 1 January 2012, pending new allocations of funds.
