Hunting and Migration: from ANUU the data of the observations on the Italian migration pass at the end of October, “Tempo di Sasselli”.
The month of October ends, which will be remembered, after the ups and downs on the post-nuptial migration, as a truly positive time of year for all bird species. It is time, therefore, after the first monthly reports, more positive than ever, to begin to observe the arrivals of the large migratory passerines arriving from the north, of which some individuals have already made themselves known in the low hills and in the plains: the Redwing and Cesena. The first species has already started the step well and several individuals have arrived in central Italy, while the second is arriving precisely in this period in the low hills. They are still accompanied by the Song Thrush, which appears constantly, albeit in smaller numbers than in recent days, having shown, once again and apart from last year's pause, to be a species that, despite being the object of hunting, it is still numerous, like the Finch, the Robin and the Blackcap. The presence of Frosone and Regolo is still excellent, while Peppole and Siskin, although they have still been observed sporadically, are always expected with the hope that their presence will become, as the winter season progresses, more and more numerous.
This also applies to the Snipe which, after a good appearance in the period of August / September, are noticeable in a reduced way in this period. This is not the case for the Woodcock, the Wood Pigeon and theLark which, fortunately, are abundantly observed in the sites suitable for them. From Greece an excellent step was reported Song Thrushes November 1st and 2nd.
Le Woodcocks, on the other hand, they are in short supply. The weather conditions remain optimal, even if the forecasts for the first week of November are not absolutely favorable. For those who believe in the phases of the moon, the full moon on Thursday 6 November should lead to a significant presence of late autumn bird species, as long as the weather remains stable. We will talk about it again next week.
