New damage to agricultural crops caused by herds of wild boars. In this early summer, the damage that the numerous ungulates are causing to crops as well as to the safety of people is back in the news.
To report, for the umpteenth time, the incident is the regional Coldiretti who, with a telegram sent to the departments of Agriculture and Policies for Environmental Protection, Hunting and Fishing, as well as to the Municipality of Sant'Elia a Pianisi, reports of the last huge damage suffered by the farmers of Sant'Elia to their crops of cereals and legumes.
The major Farmers' Association makes clear reference to what happened on Monday 18 when, we read in the letter: "throughout the day, in the Figarola and Cigno districts, in the countryside of Sant'Elia a Pianisi (CB), there was a conspicuous invasion of wild boars that have destroyed the cereal and legume crops in progress, while attacking the people intent on working the fields ".
For this reason: "In order to safeguard the public and private safety, on the roads and in agricultural land - continues Coldiretti - please take action to avoid the presence of ungulates in the area".
At the same time, Coldiretti asks the competent Authorities to "carry out investigations to quantify the damage suffered by agricultural entrepreneurs in the areas concerned".
