The Council of the Province of Florence approves the resolution, illustrated by the Vice President Cantini, concerning the regulation on fixed hunting stalks.
The Provincial Council approved the Regulations for the authorization and use of fixed hunting stalks in the Province of Florence. The resolution was illustrated by the Vice President Laura Cantini.
This is the final stage of a journey: the draft regulation, drawn up to adapt it to the new regional provisions, was proposed and illustrated to the hunting, environmental and agricultural associations also in the course of the plenary consultation of hunting in December sip.
The associations' observations were taken into account, especially with regard to simplification and the improvement of the procedural process. The WWF, in particular, had made two requests for greater protection of migratory fauna.
In this regard the proposal to standardize the distances of the new fixed posts from the non-hunting establishments was accepted, restoring the distance of the fixed posts to 400 meters from the protection areas and oases, instead of the 300 meters set by the previous regulation.
“In this way - explained Cantini - the function of the areas in which migratory fauna can find rest and refuge is reaffirmed”. However, not being able to deny the acquired rights, authorized postings are maintained at a distance from 300 to 400 meters from these areas as long as they are registered to the same owner.
Another request from the WWF, with the proposal not to authorize new stalking in the Special Protection Areas, will be studied in depth in the Hunting Wildlife Plan (which identifies the areas in which the fixed positions can be placed).
The 2012-2015 Provincial Hunting Wildlife Plan is being drawn up and its approval is expected within 180 days from the approval of the Regional Agricultural Forestry Plan currently on the agenda in the Regional Council.
For the drafting of the Regulations, the Hunting Office of the Empolese Valdelsa district was repeatedly consulted, which authorizes the fixed postings in its own territory of competence, and the territorial hunting areas that insist on the Florentine territory.
The Regulation was approved with the favorable votes of the Pd-Idv-Sel majority and the abstention of the Pdl, Rifondazione and Lega. On the other hand, two amendments presented by the Pdl Councilor Piergiuseppe Massai were rejected, which among other things aimed not to bring the distance of a stakeout from the protection areas to 400 meters, as "measure that has an environmentalist semblance but does not affect the protection of the environment itself: there is a world that hunting simply wants to eliminate it".
