Abruzzo Hunting Calendar 2011-2012 approved, waivers until February 9, 2012.
"The calendar also contains the prescriptions dictated by the Via (Environmental Impact Assessment), in particular with regard to the protection of the Marsicano bear and the attention to some migratory species, excluded from hunting in consideration of their current state of suffering".
The regional council, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting, Mauro Febbo, approved the hunting calendar 2011-2012. The season will start on 18 September and will end on 31 January 2012 with the possibility of an extension until 9 February following a request from the Provinces.
It starts on 21 August with dog training and then officially starts on 3, 4, 10, 11 September with crow, magpie, blackbird and turtledove; to follow the other species (see attachment). "The hunting activity - underlines the commissioner Mauro Febbo - conducted with prudence and respect for the rules, of the farmers and their crops, also finds precise discipline in the approved calendar for the 2011-2012 season, especially taking into account the Park areas, Sic and Natural Reserves.
The different needs represented by the categories concerned have been taken into consideration, and it combines the requests for environmental wildlife protection with a balanced and responsible hunting exercise on the part of hunters. The calendar also contains the prescriptions dictated by the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), in particular as regards the protection of the Marsican bear and the attention to some migratory species, excluded from hunting in consideration of their current state of suffering. ".
“This calendar - explains the commissioner Febbo - is faithful to the work carried out in the National Hunting Table set up, on the mandate of Vasco Errani, President of the Conference of the Regions, by the representatives of the Regions and Associations with interests.
The Abruzzo Region has also implemented the indications provided by the ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), with respect to which some non-substantial, amply motivated changes have been introduced in compliance with the provisions dictated by the European Community, formulated in the Key concepts document officially adopted by the European Commission in 2001.
The approved hunting calendar is also a first step in the new path undertaken by the Department of Hunting for a correct management of the fauna. Much of the energy - concludes Mauro Febbo - in the future will be concentrated for the activation of the Regional Wildlife Observatory, also in light of the recent reform concerning the Arssa.
In fact, only with a technical-scientific management of the fauna, as well as with the involvement of all the interested parties, is it possible to achieve objectives like those at the forefront of the sector, in which hunting is part of an element of environmental governance and conservation of the faunal balance ".
