Caccia: Bersani responds to environmentalists: "Science and legality inalienable coordinates of the work of the PD".
“We sincerely appreciated the attention paid to us as much as the contents of the letter with which the national secretary of the PD, Hon. Pier Luigi Bersani, responded to the risks we have highlighted regarding the perpetration in Italy of yet another season of administrative appeals and new infringement procedures due to the poor application of European and Italian rules on hunting and wildlife protection ".
This is the positive comment of the associations Friends of the Earth, Italian Animalists, Enpa, Fare Verde, Lav, Legambiente, Lipu, Vas and Wwf to the letter received from the Hon. Pier Luigi Bersani.
"In these days, while the first appreciable positive signals are coming from some Regions, many others are defining hunting calendars that do not respect both national legislation and the best scientific knowledge - against the opinion of the national scientific authority, ISPRA - causing serious damage to Italian biodiversity, that great common heritage made up of hundreds of different and unique species of wild animals that add so much to our environments in terms of beauty, charm and ecological services.
And this happens, unfortunately, only because the agitated fringes of the hunting ultras who even threaten political aggression against those who dare to oppose their illicit requests are not governed ”.
"In this paradoxical and difficult all-Italian context - conclude the associations Amici della Terra, Animalisti Italiani, Enpa, Fare Verde, Lav, Legambiente, Lipu, Vas and Wwf - it is an important signal what the National Secretary of the PD writes and we trust it will contribute to change the direction in the governance of an issue that until now, too often, has not seen common sense, respect for the rules and knowledge prevail, but only logics of personal gain.
