La hunting season 2021-2022 of Basilicata will open on 19 September and will end on 31 January 2022, with the exception of the wood pigeon species which will be huntable starting from 2 October and until 10 February 2022. This is what has been established by regional hunting calendar 2021-2022, approved by the regional council, on the proposal of the vice president and councilor for agricultural and forestry policies, Francesco Fanelli.
“Following the work of comparison and consultation between all the actors involved and taking into account the Ispra's remarks - explained Vice President Fanelli - we have approved the new hunting calendar for the 2021/2022 season, balancing the needs of the hunting and agricultural world. We are putting in place all the tools to face the constant numerical expansion of wild boars: in addition to causing damage to crops, their presence in the vicinity of inhabited centers raises concern and alarmism and puts people's safety at risk. Only with extraordinary measures, by the National government - Fanelli concluded - it will be possible to fight what now represents a real emergency ”. The calendar specifies time limitations and game boxes for individual species. In particular, hunting will be possible, for some species, on the following dates:
from 13 October to 9 January 2022 for the boar, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays;
