Convened for March 9 the Regional Commission of Umbria for the comparison in view of the elaboration of the hunting calendar for the next year and for the selection plan. A session in which the debate on the dates of the wild boar hunt will be proposed again, a theme that now also intersects with that of the emergency African swine fever. Meanwhile, following the new formulation of the 'Key Concepts' proposed in Europe, data on migrations and fine reproduction of 82 huntable species, new unknowns on the Hunting calendar 2022/23.
For this the regional councilors Manuela Puletti and Valerio Mancini (Umbria League) they ask that the drafting of the hunting calendar be done with timing and methods "that do not create uncertainty in the Umbrian hunting world". “The reference - explain Puletti and Mancini - is the update, which took place in the EU, of the migration and end reproduction data of 82 huntable species in the Member States, recently agreed with the NADEG Commission (group of experts on Birds and Habitats Directives).
As for Italy - they say - there would be 'anomalies' on hunting periods of some species (turdidae, anatidae and colopacidae) and there could be discrepancies with other countries on the hunting periods ". For Puletti and Mancini there would be a "excessively restrictive interpretation of the new Key Concepts just drawn up within the community bodies, which makes it essential to open, as soon as possible, a close discussion within the State-Regions Conference, with the involvement of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the most representative hunting associations, in view of the drafting of the new hunting calendar which must be published by the Regions by 15nd June".
"We hope - conclude the two members of the League - that, acting in concert with colleagues from other regions, the commissioner Morroni expresses opposition to the application of Italian Key Concepts, given the discrepancy and differences in application of our country compared to other European states ".
