Hunting in the Marche: The Province implements a provision for selection hunting, the LAC protests this provision.
Still controversy in the Marche against selection hunting. The province of Pesaro and Urbino has recently felt the need to authorize the selection hunt for roes and fallow deer. The disproportionate increase in the number of specimens of this species, in fact, would cause a lot of damage on the territory both to the woods and to the crops. In addition, roe deer are the cause of many road accidents. This is the conviction of the province which was based on a series of demographic statistics compiled also thanks to the help of the hunters themselves.
He therefore authorized the culling of many hundreds of specimens. But the Lega Abolizione Caccia (LAC) of the Marche region has made its voice heard. According to the LAC, this decision would be nothing more than a hoax to advance one's political and above all economic interests. It would be an initiative aimed at keeping the large community of hunters in the region increasingly fond of the so-called big game on its side. The LAC states that the statistics compiled are not based on real data and that the number of roe deer is not as high as the province wants us to believe. For the LAC this selection hunt is comparable to a real slaughter. He also states that it is certainly no coincidence that every year the province organizes training courses for selection hunters around which an innumerable amount of money seems to revolve. But selection hunting in the Marche seems to be a real necessity considering that in the midst of these controversies even the Marche Region felt the need to request the culling of many specimens of boar which due to their demographic increase are causing further damage to the Marche region. A measure that responds to the needs of local farmers who have made their requests as a result of the damage suffered in their crops. For the Region this is a real emergency situation that must be resolved as soon as possible. The selection hunt for wild boar has just started and is expected to end on March 31, 2010.
