Still controversy over the hunting ban following the Dpcm of 3 November which severely limits the activities, especially in the "Red zone". Piedmont and Lombardy are now asking the government to reconsider and allow it to take place. This is the meaning of a letter signed by the councilors with responsibility for hunting, respectively Marcus Protopapa e Fabio Rolfi, both of the League. The point of contention is sporting activity: the dpcm allows it, outdoors and in individual form. But the Government then provided an interpretation according to which hunting as a sporting activity can only consist of skeet shooting, according to the official Coni list of sporting disciplines.
An interpretation that is not digested, however, by the Lombard and Piedmontese politicians. And, of course, by the hunters of these two regions, which electorally constitute a strong support for the Carroccio party in certain provinces. According to Rolfi and Protopapa, then, "hunting is also useful on an environmental level since it allows to contain the proliferation of wildlife that is causing so much damage to both agriculture and people ”. The two Northern League exponents argue that "the blocking of all hunting activities will have serious repercussions in the coming years on the containment of invasive species, the defense of agriculture and the safety of people".
Meanwhile Barbara Mazzali, councilor of the Brothers of Italy in the Lombardy Region, often at the forefront when it comes to hunting, presented a question with a written answer to ask if "the Lombardy Region does not deem it appropriate with its own ordinance to certify that the hunting activity of selection in the area Alps is a situation of necessity ". No more individual sporting activities, therefore, because (in part) it is planned through "withdrawal plans" and therefore "of public interest". Mazzali herself, in recent days, had intervened to ask instead that hunting be assimilated to sporting activity.
"We can run, go to the woods, practice sports, and from today we can also go fishing but we cannot go hunting", he commented: "If they want to stop hunting because it serves the health emergency, we can also understand it and put ourselves at the service of the community, as we know very well how to do. But they have to explain to us why a man (sic, ed) cannot go hunting within his municipality but can take a run on the same path. Because a man (sic, ed) cannot go hunting in complete solitude, without meeting a living soul, but he can take a walk with a friend while keeping his distance ».
