The comparison on the revision of the Key Concepts is moving forward and the positions on the pitch are becoming more and more clearly defined. In the meeting last week, the Regions, present in their entirety, defended unanimously and in a compact way a position that leaves no room for interpretative doubts. In fact, a common understanding arrives from the Italian regions to keep the current sampling times for the species unchanged Song Thrush, Sassello Thrush, Cesena, Woodcock and Teal.
A choice dictated by technical-scientific reasons and by maintaining a "balance" on sampling times that have now stabilized for over 26 years. The same Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry shared the position of the Regions. A fundamental contribution was made by the reports of Dr. Michele Sorrenti, who together with Dr. Daniel Tramontana and Dr. Walter Trocchi, promptly presented the conclusions of various scientific papers, both Italian and international, which testify with scientific rigor the theses supported by the Hunting Associations. It should be noted the rigidity maintained by Ispra which, despite the data presented and the positions argued and supported by the Regions and the MIPAAF, continues to maintain a firm and inflexible position on reducing hunting times of the species in question in the second ten days of January.
At the end of the meeting, the drafting of a summary document was announced to be proposed to the various interlocutors and to the Ministry of the Environment before being definitively sent to the European Commission. After this long and tiring work of comparison carried out also with the contribution of a part of the hunting world the hope is that the evidence presented by the researchers of the Hunting Associations and the common position expressed by the Regions and the MIPAAF, will prevail over Ispra, convincing the Ministry of the Environment, which unfortunately has the last word on the matter, to accept a position of equilibrium avoiding disputes between state bodies.
