For lovers of migratory hunting, ANUU provides the situation of the pass in Italy in the light of the latest observations and climate changes; “Cold and Cesene”.
Finally, after an anomalous meteorological situation in central Europe, where the low pressure coming from the Atlantic collided with the weather conditions that have long contrasted central-eastern Europe, while the Alps have preserved this strong contrast until the first decade of December, a meager sprinkle of snow appeared. The precipitations slowly subsided until they ran out in the late evening of the day of Sant'Ambrogio, 7 December. No particular discomfort for circulation and normal daily life. In general, the remaining white blanket did not exceed a few centimeters.
It is hoped for a better start of the week, while Europe is affected, in general form, by a cold polar air with rain and snow at low altitudes on the central western regions and heavy snowfall with serious problems on the central eastern one. The weather conditions influenced this period characterized by a small movement of Fieldfare, which have severely tested the tenacity and constancy of the sheds, always present on the territory hoping for a massive presence of the species.
While in recent years the number of Cesene was really poor, this year, after a fair presence, especially in the first two decades of November, there is a way of thinking that there may still be a positive margin for the species to reappear in the winter months with good erratic contingents in search of food.
An interesting catch characterized the week just spent at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory, that of a Beccafico, a very late trans-Hilar migrant in this unusual period. This last period is dedicated to the study of wintering species on the territory which at the scientific station has reached the 17th year of surveying the species present during the bad season.
Interesting species such as the aforementioned Cesena, a great turdid coveted by enthusiastic shed owners which, with the hope that it will return in large numbers, we will be able to talk about in the coming weeks.
