Hunting: Umbria, the new regional hunting calendar, valid for the 2014-2015 hunting season, has been pre-adopted by the council; opening on 21 September and among the novelties two pre-opening days.
Two "half" days of pre-opening, Monday 2014st and Sunday 2015th September: this is the main novelty of the 14-XNUMX hunting calendar that the regional council pre-adopted in its last session, on the proposal of the councilor for agricultural and hunting policies. In agreement with the majority of the associations and after the green light of the hunting faunal consultation on May XNUMXth, the calendar follows the methods and times of collection of last season, also based on the positive judgments found during the participation phase. But this year, the commissioner underlines, it was decided to divide the pre-opening day into two half days in which the sampling will be allowed until 13 pm. This choice was adopted to combine the needs expressed by the hunting world to allow the taking of the so-called estatine species on the first useful day of September and at the same time favoring, with the half-day of the first Sunday, hunters unable to take a day off to exercise their passion.
The general opening to all species with the exception of ungulates whose sampling periods will be established with their own deed by the provincial administrations remains fixed on the third Sunday of September, which this year falls on the date of the 21st. The act provides for the pre-opening on September 1st, exclusively from stalking, to the teal, gargane, mallard, dove, blackbird, wood pigeon, hooded crow, jay and magpie species, and the general opening to all other species on September 21st, but not to the wild boar for which the hunting activity will start on 5 October and will close on 4 January, even if the provincial administrations can postpone this date.
The early closure of the pheasant hunt on 30 November is also foreseen, to safeguard the reproduction of this species. This choice has also been made in other hunting contexts. Hunting for hare will be allowed from 21 September to 7 December. The selection hunt for fallow deer, roe deer, red deer and mouflon will run from 15 June to 13 July, from 17 August to 4 October and from 5 January to 28 February 2015.
Now the proposal will be sent to "Ispra", the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, and then to the Third Commission of the Regional Legislative Assembly for the competent opinion before returning to the Executive Committee for definitive adoption.
