The Umbrian regional council, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting, Fernanda Cecchini, has decided to pre-adopt the proposed hunting calendar valid for the next 2012-2013 season which will begin on 16 September; now the floor to the III Council Commission of the Regional Council and to ISPRA for their respective opinions.
The promoter of the draft hunting calendar, commissioner Cecchini, referring to the opening of the season for the third Sunday in September, stated that "it guarantees the distribution of the presence of hunters in the first days of hunting over a greater area and, at the same time, avoids the concentration of hunting pressure on a few species ".
The new hunting calendar presents changes to the original proposal including the addition of other huntable species such as teal, garganey and mallard in the two pre-opening days scheduled for Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September in which hunting will only be allowed from stalking. Furthermore, the limit of five animals for the turtledove species in the days of pre-opening has been eliminated from the specifications of the game bags.
Continuing, Cecchini explained "In the draft calendar prepared by the regional offices, the proposals presented by the hunting and agricultural associations during the meetings of the Wildlife Hunting Council were accepted, in compliance with national and community regulations, continuing the positive work of consultation and sharing. of choices ".
Another novelty contained in the new wildlife hunting management document is the shifting of the closure of the hunting sampling to woodcock, cesena, song thrush and redwing thrush to 31 January 2013 instead of 20 January as foreseen by the previous calendars. Furthermore, in compliance with article 18 of the national law, the Provinces are entitled to postpone the start of hunting wild boar from 30 September.
The new regional hunting calendar provides for an increase in dog training and training days which is therefore allowed in the periods from 15 to 30 August 2012 and from 3 to 13 September 2012.
Finally, the commissioner Cecchini said, "A good text, now we hope that the launch of the calendar can take place within the established times, by mid-June, also to allow the advance from June 16 of the selection hunt for roe, red deer, fallow deer. and mouflon to contain the damage that these species cause to agricultural production ".
In conclusion, Cecchini explained, "As regards the wild boar, the extraordinary containment plan that the regional council is drawing up in agreement with the provinces and the ATC, the territorial hunting areas is nearing completion".
