There were two interventions by the Provincial Police within the Park of the Po Delta to counter the phenomenon of illegal hunting. In the first case, the agents surprised two people originally from Comacchio (province of Ferrara) who had exploited the thick fog that fell over the valleys to avoid being seen and to hunt with the aid of an acoustic call in the area of Pre Park, more precisely in the lagoon valleys. Both were also busy using an electric motor in the water.
The crime to which they must answer is that of hunting with the use of the acoustic call: there is a criminal sanction with a fine of up to 1500 euros, without forgetting the eight weeks of suspension from hunting in the same area of Pre Parco. The second intervention saw the agents working together with a volunteer guard from Hunting Federation.
Specifically, a hunter from the province of Ravenna was surprised with a electromagnetic acoustic call in a fixed hunting post inside a water basin ad Argenta (always in the province of Ferrara). The recall and the rifle for destruction were seized from the man. The Po Delta Park, which aims at the recognition of UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, has risen to the honors of the limelight due to a recent report from the “Striscia la Notizia” show on poaching.
Just a week ago the national vice president of Federcaccia, Lorenzo Carnacina, responded to the accusations by explaining how the law is respected within the Park and how illegal episodes are always reported. Carnacina himself wanted to underline the correct behavior of the vast majority of hunters and the inevitable presence of some subject that does not respect the rules. The double blitz of the Provincial Police is an important warning against other illegal hunters.
