The municipal council of Castelbuono, a locality in the province of Palermo, has approved the agreement stipulated between the same Sicilian municipality and the local section of Arci Caccia. It is a scheme of agreement that provides for the involvement of hunters in the environmental surveillance services as regards the delivery of waste. In practice, it was decided to authorize the volunteers of the hunting association a control and monitor the territory and avoid environmental crimes.
The Castelbuono hunters will have the opportunity to fine offenders and will collaborate together with the staff of the municipal offices and the Municipal Police. The volunteers will be six people (maximum limit that cannot be exceeded) selected between Castelbuono itself and the entire province of Palermo. Among the penalties provided there are those for uncivilized who throw their waste in unsuitable places or outside the allowed hours.
The collaboration began in recent months thanks to a formal request from the local manager of Arci Caccia, who intends to make the activities of hunters available. The role of the hunting world is therefore confirmed as fundamental to keep the territory in this part of Sicily cleaner.
