Yesterday, Sunday 30 October 2016, was to be that of the meeting of the members of Valle d'Aosta Hunting Committee to choose the new president and the new board of directors. In fact, no candidates showed up (a scenario that could have been hypothesized for days) and then the elections were canceled and the assembly was dismissed without a new date. The official decision was made by Paolo Oreiller, extraordinary commissioner of Hunting Management Committee.
Oreiller himself will take on this temporary assignment for other weeks, given that the institution will remain in the police station until the ordinary administrative bodies will not be established. Furthermore, the Valle d'Aosta Regional Council has established that the election of the Hunting Committee cannot take place later than 30 June of the 2017 (therefore within the first half of the year).
The last electoral round of this type dates back to three years ago, on the occasion of the inauguration of Jean-Claude Soro. Furthermore, it is the first time ever in nearly sixty years that the Aosta Valley hunters do not present a candidate for president. The problems arose when the changes to the regional hunting law were announced, with some representatives of the districts who they felt penalized, especially from the assignment of the new abatement quotas.
