There was an atmosphere of enthusiasm and active participation in the room that hosted the works of the 58th FIDC Extraordinary Assembly, last Saturday 30 November, the first national assembly of the new mandate after the elective one last May. A busy agenda, articulated with Central European precision - as some of those present pointed out with a pleased smile - by the young regional president of Sardinia Davide Bacciu, for the occasion president of the Assembly, he engaged the regional and provincial presidents who attended the appointment. Some interesting reports preceded the precise and timely report by the national president Massimo Buconi.
Particularly appreciated was the integrated communication project at national level illustrated by Paolo Pini, director of the Greentime publishing house, who alongside the creation of a network of communicators spread throughout the country - on the occasion their second operational meeting was held - will have a fundamental part in achieving a higher level of dissemination and promotion of hunting issues both inside and, above all, outside our world, affecting public opinion in a more sensitive way. A long applause welcomed the presentation by the coordinator Isabella Villa of the National Coordination of Federcaccia hunters, intended to welcome all hunters, dog lovers and sympathizers to give the female component of our world an ever greater visibility and concrete involvement in all the activities of the Federation.
The intervention of the insurance consultant followed with particular interest, a focus on the claims occurred in past seasons, which highlighted how the highest cause of injury are not firearms, but falls and how the most affected age group is not the highest one. “Having a more precise idea of accidents - underlined President Buconi - serves not only to offer our members more and more targeted and therefore better insurance products, but also to challenge the most widespread spurious accusations against us by anti-hunts. We will give more and more space to scientific research aimed at supporting a sustainable hunting practice that respects biodiversity - he continued - enhancing and continuing to invest in the Faunistic and agro-environmental studies and research office, the real pride of our Federation.
With the contribution of his indications we will better structure the legal interventions not only in support, but trying to anticipate the hateful and largely instrumental recourses to hunting calendars by identifying our strengths and weaknesses region by region. Also in this field we are working to organize a high-level legal conference to analyze where the jurisprudence on environmental, hunting and animal welfare is going. It will obviously not be a moment for hunters but for professionals, lawyers, magistrates, jurists, which also has the value of updating and training on a delicate topic, of almost daily application, but in reality well known only to a few experts.
Alongside communication and the female universe - the president then underlined - we have launched a project aimed at young people. Young people are our future not only as hunters but also as leaders and deserve our full attention. We want to create a meeting of young hunters where they can get to know each other, discuss and tell us what they think and what they want from tomorrow's hunt. It is our duty to give him a voice and listen and Federcaccia is once again open and willing to take on this responsibility ”. A short and free debate, the real heart of every federal meeting, followed the applauded speech of the president and preceded the only statutory fulfillment required, that is the approval of the budget, which took place with only one abstention. A moment of pleasant emotion marked the assembly with the attribution to Bruno Modugno, a man of culture and dean of Italian hunting journalists, of the title of "Gentiluomo Cacciatore", the highest honor of the Federcaccia provided for those with their own life and his example has brought prestige to hunting.
A title that Modugno, together with the few others awarded this recognition, fully deserves. And in this perspective, starting from this meeting, another honor was introduced, that of "The hunter of the year", in order to grant recognition to those members who have distinguished themselves for particular merits achieved in deeds or for their commitment to wildlife-hunting, environmental, ethical or social matters that have brought honor in society to the Federation and to the figure of the hunter. The first was attributed to Gino Ranieri, for the role of coordinating the team of volunteers he hired during the safeguard intervention in the protected area of Valle Mandriole (Valle della Canna) following the environmental emergency that hit the area humid.
Other awards, this time for their activity within the Federation, have been attributed to some provincial and municipal presidents. “President of the year” were named as follows: Carlo Cappellari, provincial of Valle d'Aosta; Francesco Antonio Greco, provincial of Cosenza; Corrado Figura, provincial of Syracuse; Paolo Barbera, Municipal Gallico (RC); Moreno Bertocci, Pescia Fiorentina municipality (Gr). The Assembly was also the time to deliver a small but heartfelt recognition to the athletes and technicians who represented Italy at the last dog world championships, thus concluding in a festive atmosphere an important appointment in the associative life of the Federcaccia. .
