As announced byANUUMigrators, the last days of November have given us some meteorological stability with temperatures that have dropped and in some areas of northern Italy we have noticed the early morning frost and the sun dominated after a month characterized by strong and continuous rains for twenty days. The October migration that had satisfied ornithologists and sheds has given way to chicks erratic movements which from December will characterize all the species that will linger over the winter in our territory. And while from the south of the France we receive news of an excellent passage of the Redwing, in our peninsula the bad weather has forced many observers to forced morning rests while some species have been noticed in the leopard spots in the territories moderately affected by perturbations.
However, the good presence of Cesena accompanied by some flights of Tordi sasselli must be pointed out. The presence of the Chaffinch together with the Peppola is still excellent. If the Siskinis can still be seen in small groups in the areas suited to them, there is nothing to report for the Frosone which seems to have disappeared after a more than positive migratory onset. At the FEIN Ornithological Observatory of Arosio, which takes care of these weekly notes thanks to the collaboration of foreign observers, the last week of November once again gave the capture of a song thrush and that of a bullfinch female. Just to underline its rarity in the area this last finch since 1997 it was only ringed five times and, curiously, the individuals were all female.
As far as the Woodcock is concerned, there are fragmented reports of individuals observed in a scattered way but, as mentioned before, this is due to the bad weather conditions that have negatively affected the monitoring and hunting activity. Nothing of relevance also for what concerns the aquatic and the common snipe. The date of December 12, the day of the full moon, is approaching. If the forecasts dictated by our ancestors about the lunar phases will come true and will be accompanied by good weather with a lowering of the temperature, we will still have exciting days thanks to the presence of the great turdids of the north, the legendary Cesene.
