The association ANUUMigrators published the usual weekly note on the migratory step. The change in weather has led to less warm temperatures, though the rain has been little, as well as far from the wishes of farmers and citizens. There was no lack of thunderstorms, but they certainly did not bring well-being, indeed they were nothing short of disastrous.
Following the six exceptional heat waves (drought levels have been worrying), migration has been on record a setback as regards the number of catches, lower than the monthly total of previous years (we are talking about the period monitored by the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio). In the last week of August the movement of black nurses it was light, especially on the 25th and 30th, as happened also in the case of pipit, to be precise on the last day of the month.
The other typical summer species have appeared on a regular basis, albeit in decline compared to the past: the list includes big, woodcock, black redstart, flycatcher, stiff neck e marsh tit. The new temperatures could give hope for something better in September, so much so that yesterday, Sunday 3 September 2017, the presence of black nurses was significant.
