Rock partridge, pochard, lapwing, turtle dove e redwing: these are the birds that according to the LIPU (Italian Bird Protection League) they should be excluded from huntable species due to the conservation status of the five species. LIPU-BirdLife Italy anticipated some information from the latest BirdLife International study on these risks of wild birds on the European continent.
The official presentation will take place next 20st May, meanwhile, the birds just described have been classified as SPEC 1, viz threatened worldwide. The last analysis dates back to 2004 and in that case 4 of the 5 species were already judged to be at risk, while the same could not be said for the redwing.
The League turned to ISPRA, the regions, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture for urgent action to exclude birds from huntable species. Furthermore, according to the association, the decline was caused by various factors, first of all the loss of habitats and climate change, but hunting is also mentioned. The presentation of the complete data will take place during the LIPU assembly.
