The president of Coldiretti Como-Lecco Fortunato Trezzi, for a proposal that he is not afraid to define as “more than ridiculous, disconcerting”. In these days the news of a new document is circulating that would contain guidelines to contrast the wildlife and which would propose, as the main weapon to contain the risks associated with impetuous pigs, the putting on the street of various boar speed cameras. What does it mean?
That simply by placing automatic speed controls, it is hoped that the driver will slow down and therefore have the possibility of braking at the sight of a wild boar. "Let's not joke!". Trezzi begins. "First of all it should be remembered that the impact with an animal of this size, already at 50 km per hour, it can cause very serious damage, let alone on country roads and motorways, where the limits are higher. It is clear that in this case, even if they are respected, the driver is in very serious danger.
Other points of the document, which, however, I have not had the opportunity to read in depth, since it is not yet in our possession, they would talk about building bumps and fences on the roads. It goes without saying that this is an impractical solution, indeed a non-solution. It is not an answer to the "boar problem" that we farmers have repeatedly reported and that, as is well known, it creates a lot of inconvenience, not just road safety ". Growers' concern has been particularly acute in recent months because according to the data they have collected, such a quantity of wild boars in the area would be unprecedented and it would have serious repercussions on the ecosystem of our lands.
