Mr Barbara Mazzali (Brothers of Italy), Lombardy regional councilor, announced that he had written a letter to the governor Attilio Fontana about the wildlife control in this area to ask for an extension. Here is what he wrote about it: “I wrote a letter to President Fontana for to sensitize him to the problem of hunters and the risks for the territory, asking for the provisions on wildlife control and selective collection to be extended to 30 May.
Until March 5, and limited to the days in which the Lombardy Region is classified in orange zone, the provisions of art. 4 of Ordinance 649 (confirmed by Ordinance 688 of 9 December 2020), regarding agricultural activities, wildlife control and hunting and fishing activities.
In the letter to the President, I asked that these measures be extended until May 2021 and in particular that the selective collection of ungulates and all other ancillary activities, complementary and related to hunting activities (such as census activities, dog training and falconry, voluntary hunting surveillance) and the execution of containment and control plans, consenting that hunters and operators can move on the regional territory, strictly respecting the anti contagion prevention such as the use of masks and social distancing. I am sure that President Fontana will listen to our legitimate requests, which are also necessary for the health of the territory and the ecosystem ”.
