Hunting data
“At the ministerial technical table the Umbria Region did not provide data on the hunting of the skylark, a condition which could lead to a ban on hunting for this species by 2023. The competent Assessor will act quickly to avoid this eventuality ". The regional councilor of the Umbria League Manuela Puletti announces the presentation of a question to shed light on the issue, which will be discussed in the Legislative Assembly. "The League - explains Puletti - is the only political force that listens to hunters and works alongside associations for the protection of hunting, both as a traditional practice that has its roots in the history and culture of these territories, and as an economic flywheel for an induced sector of vital importance. Skylark hunting in Umbria is particularly felt and practiced by the shotguns of our region, who would unjustly risk seeing the possibility of following up on their passion in question”.
Ministry of Agriculture
"Last February - writes Puletti in the document - the technical table met at the Ministry of Agriculture to analyze the data relating to the reporting of the killing of wild doves, partridges and larks, in order to fulfill the requests received of the European Commission, provided for by Community and national legislation. From the data collected, as regards specifically the hunting of the lark species in Umbria, a worrying and incomplete situation would have emerged in the reporting of killings through the 'card system', a condition that has been repeated for many years now, well before the installation of this Giunta”.
What will happen with the larks
"Regarding the lark - continues Puletti - the lack of information relating to the hunting activity carried out in Umbria in previous years, could lead to a ban on hunting for this species by 2023 by the bodies in charge, which could not authorize its inclusion among those that can be hunted, in the 2023/2024 regional hunting calendar currently under discussion. In this regard, together with my colleague Mancini who signed my question, we ask to know the intentions and actions that the Regional Council will want to put in place, to avoid the feared ban on hunting the lark species "(Umbria Region).
