The month of November that has just passed will perhaps be remembered as that of the scarcest migratory movement in recent years.
Some French meteorologists, who follow the timing of the migration with their forecasts, believe that a very cold December should be foreseen, except in the far south, trusting in the moon as a fundamental element for this latest migratory movement, which should reveal itself towards the December 10 on the occasion of the full moon, and then drop until the disappearance around Christmas.
We say this because after a month of November really penalizing for the migration of all species, one wonders what December can offer us, which is now upon us.
If we take by reference what was recorded at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory of Arosio, we have that from 1 to 5/11 101 birds for 13 species were ringed; from 6 to 27 236 birds for 21 species were ringed.
A total of 347 specimens for 22 species was therefore obtained, where the “target” species was the Robin with 113 ringings, followed by the Frosone with 44, the Fringuello with 42, and with the capture of 12 Thrushes, 20 Red Thrushes, 22 Blackbirds and 3 Fieldfare.
In short, a completely unpredictable vertical fall, even if last 2010 and the previous 2009 were not particularly important, but at least with a fair presence of Fieldfare, Redwing thrushes e Brambles.
This last species, which over time has accustomed us to the classic invasions, has been completely absent: but hope never dies.
