Forestry Corps: Control activity intensified in the Gargano National Park, two other poachers reported.
The forestry agents of the Umbra Station Command employed by the Territorial Coordination for the Environment of Monte S. Angelo, surprised and reported on the loose two poachers of 56 and 39 years, respectively of Monte Sant'Angelo and Ischitella, for illegal hunting activities and introduction of weapons in the protected area.
The agents immediately seized the 12-gauge rifles and buckshot cartridges in the possession of the offenders, weapons commonly used for hunting large animals.
The action took place following various ambushes and patrols of the territory. In fact, the Umbra foresters surprised the two poachers in the countryside of Vico del Gargano and in the middle of the Gargano National Park, just as they were wandering around the protected area followed by dogs.
Several operations have been carried out in recent days by the State Forestry Corps to suppress environmental and poaching crimes perpetrated within the Gargano National Park using increasingly effective methods.
The Commander of the Territorial Coordination for the Environment of the State Forestry Corps has ordered more intense and widespread checks with the addition of personnel from other departments, in order to mitigate the phenomenon of poaching.
