The scenario this time is not the desert and not even the Grand Canyon, the protagonist is definitely not Willy the Coyote hunting the ostrich Beep Beep using the most bizarre inventions but the protagonist of this story has seen fit to emulate him by self-building a particular trap for the capture of wild boars within its land located on the hills behind the Lavagnola district of Savona. The man, a seventy-three-year-old farmer originally from Cuneo but resident in Savona, exasperated by the constant incursions of wild boars on his farmland after any attempt to keep the ungulates away had proved useless, has seen fit to connect one of his rifles to hunting for a snap device; the trigger of the weapon, specially blocked and directed towards the probable access route to the bottom by the wild, was connected to a stop by a wire held in tension by a system of pulleys between two opposite points of the access route to the ground . Any animal that was introduced to the bottom and accidentally tripped over the taut wire would also have triggered the trigger of the rifle which would then have fired right at the animal at close range.
Too bad, however, that, as often happens in the famous cartoon, the victim of the diabolical device was not a boar but its own unfortunate creator; in fact, the man accidentally triggered the mechanism causing the shotgun to fire right at himself, being wounded in the leg and hip by the exploded bullet. The injured man was rescued by Red Cross personnel and transported to the Emergency Department of the San Paolo hospital in Savona for the investigation of the case; considering the extent of the injuries, the man underwent surgery.
State Police personnel also intervened on the spot who were able to ascertain the dynamics of the incident and then proceeded to seize not only the rifle used for the trap but also all the other weapons found in the elderly's availability. The man was then denounced on the loose to answer for the crimes of illegal manufacture of weapons, possession of unattended weapons and exercise of hunting in an illegal period; it has also been ascertained that in the past the character had already been sanctioned several times for irregularities related to the possession of weapons.
