Pre-Christmas poaching: Crotone, the Carabinieri of the Caccuri Station, together with the security guards of the WWF Crotone, surprised three men engaged in a poaching of migratory fauna without discrimination for protected species; during the inspection, the three subjects were found in possession of as many as 22 freshly killed Finches, and a Serin, the latter in particular belonging to the species particularly protected by the Berne Convention.
The investigations on the three poachers also revealed that they were originally from the province of Vicenza and were away on the slopes of the Sila, where they had specifically organized a joke. hunting aimed at procuring the wildlife necessary for traditional courses in view of the upcoming Christmas holidays.
Given the above, the three poachers on the road were reported on the loose to answer for the competition in the killing of specimens of protected wild animal or plant species and for the violation of various rules for the protection of wildlife and various administrative regulations; in addition to the criminal complaint, the three characters incur a fine of over 12 thousand euros, risking the revocation of the firearms license for hunting use and the loss of the requisites prescribed for carrying out the hunting activity.
In addition, the Carabinieri seized the weapons and ammunition found in the possession of the three poachers, including 492 shotgun cartridges of various caliber, two 12-gauge semi-automatic rifles and a 20-gauge semi-automatic rifle.
