The activity of the volunteers continues intensively at the station ringing of the island of Ponza. In particular, last day 31 March was greeted with great enthusiasm, a day to remember after achieving ben three records. First of all, the largest number of birds in the nets was recorded in a single hour: it is the 570 robins caught in the evening. In addition, the highest number of total daily catches for the month of March was also achieved, ie 1365 specimens.
Do not forget the greater number of robins caught in a single day. Among other things, the first specimens of the season were ringed for well-known species, namely a black wet nurse and a collared wet nurse. Not even a splendid example of bluethroat.
In the last days it was expected a worsening of the climatic conditions and the sky of Ponza has in fact been ruined, with the passage of the birds that has been defined discrete. On April 2, the total number of birds stopped at 214, rising to 307 the following day (with the first seasonal specimen of nun). Finally, the wind continued to blow at an average of 20 knots, making it mandatory closure of networks and the expectation of more favorable weather conditions.
