The extension of the hunting season in Sardinia continues to be discussed: the island hunters feel penalized, given that the withdrawal of thrushes, blackbirds, woodcocks and snipe will last until Sunday 15 January 2017, despite several Regional Administrative Courts have established that an extension must be set. In regions such as Lazio, the Marches and Tuscany, in fact, this hunt will end on 31st January.
The protest of the Sardinian hunting world has reached the Regional Council and the leader of the UDC, Gianluigi Rubiu, decided to file a motion in favor of the hunters themselves. According to Rubiu, Sardinia has been waiting for years for the hunting calendar to be extended, but the majority failed to meet the demands of the category, which feels offended and humiliated.
The group leader then added that hunting represents a value, a culture rooted in the Sardinian social fabric: "Anticipating the end of the season is a joke for hunters and farmers who propose themselves as true guardians of the environment". Brothers of Italy and Forza Italia are also in favor of the extension until January 29, with a shared proposal to be approved in the classroom and subsequently submit to the Wildlife Hunting Committee. Finally, Michele Cossa (Riformatori Sardi) used even stronger words: "The Regional Council is a declared enemy of Sardinian hunters".
