Longer season for the hunting in Sardinia. An opportunity not to be wasted for the regional councilor Edoardo Tocco (FI) who urges the extension of the hunting calendar. "The Regional Wildlife Committee should meet to elaborate the program - explains the exponent of the Azzurri - We are convinced that it is necessary to extend the season until the end of February, with the extension of hunting for migratory species, thrush and woodcock, given the favorable environmental conditions of our island ". For the force representative, the early closure represents “a restriction without any logic that penalizes the army of 40 thousand island shotguns. An even more serious discrimination, taking into account the judgments that prohibited the early opening for the removal of hares and partridges in favor of Sardinian hunters".
A damage not only for fans. “For this reason it is hoped that the framework law for the sector will be amended. It should be noted that the hunting sector - adds Tocco, who announces the presentation of a motion - moves an economic induced that is around 10 million euros per season, with the added value of the taxes collected by the Region for sporting practice. It is not enough. We need to recognize the social role played by hunters in preventing fires and protecting the environment, thus putting an end to absurd discrimination for the hunting sector ”.
Opposition also on the feared institution of territorial hunting areas: "A design that could produce divisions between the same enthusiasts - concludes Tocco - distorting an activity that is now rooted in Sardinia from a cultural and social point of view".
