The collaboration between the Migratory Birdlife Office of Hunting Federation, the ACMA (Association of Aquatic Migrant Hunters), CCT and the Department of Biology of theUniversity of Pisa the project of the satellite radiotelemetry applied to the snipe. The goal is to identify the areas where these animals reproduce, migrate and winter in our country. In the first ten days of this November the captures began with the affixing of 5 GPS on as many snipe: the results are encouraging and you can do even better.
In Marshes of Fucecchio Eight snipes were captured at the beginning of November and only three of them were excluded from affixing the radio telemetry tool. A web platform will allow you to learn more about the movements and positions of the animals during the wintering and the pre-nuptial migration.
The involvement of the hunting world in research on migratory birds is now an indispensable requirement for the conservation of hunting traditions. In case of killing of one of the marked subjects, the invitation is to contact Alfonso Lenzoni, president of ACMA (Federcaccia sectoral association) to the e-mail address [email protected]. The alternative for contacts is that of the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters: you can call the number 0552657446 or send a message to the address [email protected].
