The chamois
At the edge of the arboreal vegetation begins the world of chamois that lives without problem even in the highest peaks. However, his spirit of adaptation in recent times has been pushing him to live even at 400 meters above sea level, as long as there are exquisitely rocky environments in the surroundings. He hates the heat, but with the cold he has no problems and lives quietly down to -20 °.
The mouflon
He is a big fan of rocks, dry earth and heat, but if the situation requires it he is able to live even at different altitudes. It is impossible for him to overcome the limit of the arboreal vegetation, beyond which he never goes, and he is sure to be able to find it, within the limits described in hard and rocky soils, preferably with significant differences in height.
The ibex
The king of the peaks does not fear the cold: this is why he never goes down, even during the coldest winter, below the tree line. More than cold, he fears excessive heat; it does not withstand, for example, temperatures that rise above + 15 °.
On the other hand, it lives where many other creatures could not. Not only does he love hills and rocks, but he loves slopes and walks with ease where no other animal would.
The wild boar
We close this tour among the ungulates by talking about the wild boar. If the ibex is the king of the heights, the wild boar is certainly the king of the scrub. It is a rather versatile game: as long as there is Mediterranean scrub, it lives practically everywhere, above or at sea level. The really important thing is that the temperatures do not go beyond -10 ° and + 25 °.
Those who find themselves in unexplored and relatively new terrain, by taking a look at the surroundings and knowing the habits of these ungulates, from the first glance will have an idea of what encounters they could do during the hunting day. Not a small thing, don't you think?
