The decree-law to deal with the swine fever emergency, on which "We are working with the Ministry of Health" it is now to the attention of the Presidency of the Council and of the other competent administrations. This was announced by Minister Teresa Bellanova at the end of the table with the regions held this afternoon at Mipaaf in videoconference mode.
"We are deeply concerned", underlined the Minister in comparison with the regional Councilors for agriculture they did not fail to reiterate how the ungulate emergency is now widespread, with risks for the population, crops, livestock farms, add up the now more than tangible risk of swine fever, "because African swine fever is spreading also in countries hitherto considered unscathed and the endemic front, represented by the populations of infected wild boars, it is progressively moving towards the westernmost part of Europe, affecting Germany with several outbreaks, which led China to ban imports of pork from that country.
It is our duty to prevent such a situation from occurring in Italy as well. And for this we have defined a DL with the objective of preparing a prevention program through the adoption of an organic plan for the management and control of wild boars. A fundamental starting point to guarantee the effectiveness of the actions to combat this terrible disease ". The text of the Decree ”, the Minister informed,“ was formally sent to the Presidency of the Council and to the other competent administrations so that it is included in the agenda of the next pre-council meeting, so as to deepen the technical aspects that allow its approval in the CdM ".
