Il Lombardy Regional Administrative Court it accepted the appeal of various animal rights and environmentalist associations against the plans to kill foxes in the province of Brescia. It is LAC, LIPU, ENPA and LAV who obviously welcomed this decision with enthusiasm. The request to suspend this hunt was also accepted last August.
La Lombardy region had decided to authorize the withdrawal a year ago, including in the areas of interest those near Lake Garda, among the municipalities of Salò, San Felice del Benaco and Valtenesi, up to the morainic hills. The Region had taken note of the exponential and dangerous growth of foxes, so hunting had been "dusted off" after eight years from the last time.
The intention was to involve 60 hunters, with precise qualifications and proven experience: in addition, the coordination of the Brescia Provincial Police had been established, as is usual in these cases. However, no precise number of foxes to hunt had been set. Now the League for the Abolition of Hunting (LAC) has spoken of a victory for science and legality against a "fraud against the community". Now a further response from the Region is expected.
