The fear has turned into reality: yesterday, Tuesday 20 December 2016, the Regional Council of Piedmont approved the bill that effectively restores the ban on hunting twelve ducks and the blackbird. The latter was added through an amendment tabled in the plenary. The situation has returned to the same as that which preceded the sentence of Regional Administrative Court. The judges, in fact, had included the twelve species of duck-like aquatic birds in the hunting calendar 2016-2017 as there was no regional law on the matter.
The ban, in addition to the blackbird, refers to the killing or capture of wigeons, gadflies, shovelers, pintails, garganeys, coots, waterways, whisks, lapwings, tufted duck, pochards e fighters. Second Giorgio Ferrero, regional councilor for agriculture, these species could be hunted with the old law that was repealed by the previous administration.
Furthermore, the birds were not part of the hunting tradition of Piedmont, consequently it was decided to restore a historical situation. Against the approval he had thrown himself above all from the regional councilor Gianluca Vignale, who was ready to avoid in every possible way the umpteenth prohibition that was in any case imposed on Piedmontese hunters.
