In the last few hours it has been learned of the environmental and animal rights appeal to the Sicily Regional Administrative Court against hunting calendar 2017-2018. Antonello Cracolici, Regional Councilor for Agriculture, defended the text, specifying that the reasons for the decree will be illustrated in the event of an appeal. The Region will then rely on the Advocacy, in the certainty that the calendar guarantees the protection of fauna, in particular of some migratory species, without forgetting the limitations imposed on wild hunting tourism (introduced for the first time on the island).
Cracolici also recalled some hunting methods, such as the skylark, and the use of the ferret. For the first time it was introduced a buffer zone of 100 meters along the boundaries of areas where fires have developed, areas where hunting will be prohibited.
The hunting calendar was drawn up after many comparisons with the environmental, scientific and agricultural world. Among other things, the commissioner explained how the opinion of ISPRA did not limit the pre-opening, as clearly indicated by the national and regional legislation, according to which the hunting activity can be exercised by the September 17th to January 31st of the following year.
